The 1394 drivers are built into the Windows operating system and are installed by Windows automatically the first time the computer is started with the FireConnect/DuoConnect card installed. The card will be installed as a 1394 device and listed as either 'Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Adapter', 'NEC OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Adapter' or 'OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Adapter' within Windows Device Manager utility.

The 1394 bus driver was rewritten for Windows 7 to provide support for higher speeds and alternative media, as defined in the IEEE-1394b specification. The 1394 bus driver that is included with Windows 7 replaces the 1394 bus drivers that were included with earlier versions of Windows. Please refer to the Microsoft knowledge base for detailed information on the differences between the old and new drivers.
